Weight Watchers Not Just For The Gals

Weight Watchers

Weight Watchers

I have been seeing a lot of Weight Watchers ads on TV lately. Have you? A couple that come to mind are the ones by Jennifer Hudson (American Idol), and Sir Charles Barkley. The one from Charles Barkley caught my eye because he was promoting something they are calling Weight Watchers For Men.

It was started back in 2007 but was not widely promoted until just recently. But it does seem like a good idea. There are a lot of men out there that want to become healthier and loose some weight. But how well do they relate to diet ads geared toward women? And are the men that much different than women when it comes to a diet program?

I am not here to try and convince you that Weight Watchers is the way for you to go. But I do like the fact that they do have a program now that targets the guys. Men have different habits and routines than the gals as far as eating and exercise go. So to have something tailored for your needs is a good thing.

Our bodies each react differently to what we are putting into it and what kind of exercise we do. So no matter what diet or exercise program you are using keep in mind that these are tools to help you accomplish your goals. And what might be right for one may not be right for another.

So for the men out there that want to get healthy and fit you can do it. You can create your own program or something like Weight Watchers for men. Either way the first step is to make the decision to do it. You can use a mixture of things from different programs including supplements to help you along. For you women keep in mind that there are plenty of tools for you like Weight Watchers, and people like Jennifer Hudson who you can relate to.

Things like healthy shakes such as the ones from ViSalus might be a good way to go. You can find out more about that choice by clicking my wieght loss challenge button on the left side of the page. And just about all diet programs, including Weight Watchers have an exercise program for you to follow.

If you do decide to loose weight and create your own program, just do some studying to find out what will best work for you. And once you start, do not stop. Results with any program including Weight Watchers,  are gong vary and for many, results are not evident the next day. What you want to do is to create a healthier life style to include not only the things you eat, but the amount you eat as well. That life style change should also include a way to have exercise in your daily routine. That could be something as simple as going for a walk or jog every day.

Another thing to keep in mind is to not try and do it overnight. It could shock your system and cause your body to retaliate making you believe that you are sick. So whether it be Weight Watchers, ViSalus, or any other tool you are using, follow the programs recommendations even if you are using just part of a particular system.

The Jenny Craig Diet Has Finally Gone To The Dogs!

Jenny Craig Pet Slim Down

Jenny Craig - Project Slim Down Program

Yes finally after conquering the global obesity epidemic, Jenny Craig has turned to helping man’s best friend manage their weight problems! Well sort of. Actually Jenny Craig has teamed up with Purina in a Program called “Project Pet Slim Down”. The program is designed to help pet owners create a health and fitness program for their overweight dogs and cats.

Apparently, according to Lisa Talamini, Vice President of research and program innovation at Jenny Craig, “The obesity epidemic is not limited to people”. She indicated that about 2/3 of US adults are considered to be overweight or obese with over 50% of all pets in the country needing to lose weight.

Is “Big Brother” Watching Your Pet’s Weight?

Spoken like a true marketer if you ask me. Maybe “Big Brother” really does have those secret spy
cameras all over so they can monitor the weights of our pets and take the time to tabulate those
statistics. You see, Jenny Craig and Purina happen to be owned by the same organization, Nestle.

They have decided to take their pet unit Purina and their people weight management unit Jenny
Craig and cross promote their products under the common theme of weight loss. Actually it’s quite clever I guess. People are often very passionate about their pets and may pay attention to information about their pet’s health. Anything that raises someone’s level of consciousness regarding health and fitness is a good thing. The whole concept of the program, however, raises some questions in my mind about how practical it really will be.

Although, I don’t have any scientific data to back this up, only personal observation, when I look at nature, I do not notice that over half the animals I see are obese! It would seem that the obesity problem in pets is not natural to them, rather it is an extension of the obesity problem of their owners.

The Jenny Craig program has been around since 1983 and is synonymous with weight loss. The program has all the elements most anyone would need for a healthy and fit body. The Jenny Craig system is centered around the three critical elements of body weight management which are food consumption, exercise and mindset. This system has aided millions of people to reach their weight loss goals.

Some People Don’t Need The Whole Program

There are many other programs out there that embody the same elements as Jenny Craig and have been successful helping people to achieve a healthy and fit existence. Some people don’t need all three elements in a program because of the three they may do one or two of them naturally.

The common element to success for most people in any of these programs is mainly in their mind. Many people give up on a weight loss program because they try to do it all by themselves. They find that they are not strong enough by themselves  to mentally overcome the challenges life throws at them that knocks them off their well intentioned weight loss plan. When this happens they just are not persistent enough to start back up. That is why the social support element is so important to the success of a lot of people.

So maybe that is the key underlying factor to this Jenny Craig – Purina “Project Slim Down Program”. For that group of people that aren’t social but love their dogs and cats, you can now get the support you need.

Will it Work? Like every program out there, I’m sure this will benefit some people and some dogs and cats as well. Overall, however, whether it’s the Jenny Craig program or your own made up one, if it includes burning more calories than you take in, nutritional meals and regular physical activity, it will be successful for yours and your pet’s health and fitness.
